Day 2 – The Power of the VIP

chick-fil-a-every-day7

So Day 2 has officially come and is nearly over, but I got in my Chick-fil-A run this evening and picked up the new Chick-fil-A Cobb Salad. My closest Chick-fil-a is in Trinity, and you should’ve seen the look on their faces when I flashed my VIP card! I couldn’t tell if they were impressed or confused, but looking back, it was probably both.

Confused person #1:

I didn’t get her name, but I’m thinking it would be a great idea to capture moments of all of those who serve me my daily free Chick-fil-a. I’ll do better to get their names next time. I mean, let’s be honest, I’ll have plenty of chances, am I right?

This server was plenty nice, and she did a great job saying “My pleasure” after I thanked her for my free meal. (For the record, she’d never seen a VIP card before.) I’d like to bring your attention to the red arrow and the precious word ZERO in the above pic. If I need to spell it out, that’s what I paid.  Zero. So amazing.

Confused Person #2:

I don’t have a picture of this person. But she was a floor manager I think. Though they were both confused, I think deep down they respected the mystique of the black Chick-fil-A VIP card. I’m not kidding you, it was very strange to wield such power.  But with this power comes great responsibility. I want to make sure they know how grateful I am to have such an amazing gift.  Stay humble, Jeff.

I was going to talk about how awesome the VIP event was yesterday, but I’m making an executive decision to talk about it tomorrow. I’m really tired and the Bulls are in a tight game against the Heat.

  • Time of Visit: 7 pm
  • Meal Choice: Chick-fil-A Cobb Salad. Can I just tell you I love this salad?  My wife was making salmon and cauliflower mashed potatoes at home, so I had to make sure I ate it while I was out. I decided to skip the dressing but ho-lee crap (acknowledgment Tripp & Tyler), those little dried red pepper crunchie things?  Delish.
  • Staff: Friendly, gave me a nice “My pleasure” after my order, and figured out the whole VIP thing in about a minute. For the first time seeing it, they were on it.
  • Did you know?: There are 5 grams of fiber in this salad?  If you keeping track at home, according to Dr. Eric Coleman, it’s recommended we get 14 g of fiber for every 1000 calories consumed. That means we needed 5.8  grams for the 420 calories consumed. A little short, but pretty much right on.  Well done, Chick-fil-A, well done.
  • Trip highlight: On the way home, I was pulling into the Hess to wash my car, and this guy pumping gas just keeled over with pump in hand.  I slammed the car into park and ran over to him, slapping his face until he came to. Stayed with him until his wife came out, and he was totally out of it! Talking jibberish for about 5 minutes.  I would’ve called 911 but I felt comfortable leaving him with his capable wife.  Still, crazy stuff. Made my VIP status seem pretty insignificant, if I’m being honest.  Prayed for him on the way home.

Okay, well, Day 2’s in the books. Only 201 more to go. Let’s do this.
