Okay, so I have to start off with today’s Every Day with Chick-fil-A post with a HUGE (capitalization for emphasis) apology to Sydney, pictured above. I roll in to try a #4 Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe meal as I’m working my way through the menu, and I’m placing my order with Sydney (who I don’t realize is Sydney just yet), and I see Colby so I say ‘hey’ (more on than in a sec).
As I’m placing my order, Matt comes up from behind the counter and asks what the name of the blog is (I tell him). I explain to Sydney that I have this blog and before I can finish she’s like, “Yeah, you called me Megan.”
I did in fact call her Megan on Day 10. In my defense, I said “I think her name” is Megan, so it’s not like I was pushing all my chips in or anything. Nonetheless, totally my bad, Sydney. Won’t happen again.
Cool story number deux of this trip. I’m making coffee this morning and my wife makes a gasp like “you’re never going to believe this,” and sure enough she starts telling me about how someone had messaged her on Facebook on her blog, Addicted to Saving. To make a long story even longer, it was none other than Colby’s mom! You know Colby. He’s gained a bit of Every Day with Chick-fil-A blog lore for his commitment to service and good natured attitude. He’s telling his mom about the site and they’re looking at a picture of Liza and me and our son Terefe, and she’s like, “I’ve seen that pic somewhere!” Well, she put two and two together to realize that the savings blog she’s been following for a couple years belongs to the spouse of the man who’s blogging about her son’s outstanding service.
If that doesn’t warm your heart, you’re probably an alien.
Okay, onto today’s meal – the #4 Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe, which, as Colby noted, for me is just a #3 with Pepperjack Cheese. No rabbit food for this guy.
The Spicy Chicken Sandwich according to Chick-fil-A’s site: A boneless breast of chicken seasoned with a spicy blend of peppers, hand-breaded, pressure cooked in 100% refined peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips, Green Leaf lettuce, tomato and Pepper Jack cheese. Also available on a Golden Wheat bun.
Normal Cost for the entire meal: $6.15
Nutritional Content for the Sandwich
My thoughts on the Spicy Chicken Deluxe? I don’t think I’ve done this one yet. Maybe once I did. You know honestly, yesterday’s Spicy Chicken had my bald head sweating, but today’s was milder, even with the pepperjack. Nevertheless, it was tasty of course. The fries could’ve been a little hotter, but this is really the first time I can remember the waffle fries not being piping hot.
The regular Dr. Pepper was out, so I went 1/2 regular Coke, 1/2 Diet. Very fresh today. Almost like the carbonation was on overdrive.
I sat in the booth and listened to an old podcast message from Ravi Zacharias on “Bridging Two Worlds,” which was, of course, amazing and challenging. So there I sat, Chick-fil-A and Ravi, two of my very favorite things. Was it a good visit? I think you know the answer.
Final Every Day Rating – 8 out of 10 (for cooler temperature on my fries and a little less heat on the Spicy Chicken)
Tomorrow is the day of rest. Hopefully I can make it a full 48 hours before getting my next fix.
