I am disappointed in myself today. As you know, my trip to Africa left me bereft of the proper poundage for a man of my stature (5’11 1/2″), so I’ve been eating on overdrive to get the weight up. Today might be considered gluttonous.
It all started yesterday when we decided to order pizza. As soon as the order for Pizza Hut was placed, we scored a FREE Domino’s pizza, courtesy of Addicted to Saving. Having scurried out the house for our freebie, I returned only to find that the Pizza Hut pizza had been improperly topped. The horror! So, they brought another pizza out to amend for their mistake. Now we were sitting with three pizzas for the price of one, thus many leftovers were present in the fridge this morning.
I had two pieces of pizza for breakfast, and then Liza scored another FREE Domino’s pizza, courtesy of Addicted to Saving today as well! Here’s where it got a little dicey. On the way home I ate not one, not two, but six pieces of delicious, deep-dish Domino’s pizza. I kept telling myself not to eat another one, but it was so very good, and after all, I’m trying to gain weight after Africa.
Yeah, this isn’t the weight gain you want. Self control, you really stunk up the court today; you’re riding the pine tomorrow for this performance.
The irony in all this? I was still hungry this evening, so I made a late night Chick-fil-A run to try out a #7 on the menu, a Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich. I am not even going to lie, this was just what the doctor ordered after my cacophony of calories from earlier in the day. I never used to get the Chargrilled option because the Original sandwich is just too good to pass up, but now that I’m eating Every Day with Chick-fil-A, it’s become a nice option for those healthier moments. And it is really, really tasty.
My server today was Megan, who is definitely cheerful on the job, which I appreciate. She had a friend in the drive-thru in front of me, apparently, but I was in no hurry. Plus she said “My Pleasure” after I gave my order through over the intercom, and I’m a big fan of Chick-fil-A for that very reason. So nice work, Megan!
According to Chick-fil-A’s official site, the Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich is described as: A boneless breast of chicken, marinated in special seasonings, grilled to perfection and served on a toasted Golden Wheat Bun with dill pickle chips, Green Leaf lettuce, and tomato. Served with 1 package of Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce.
Total Cost: $5.19 (with the water and no tomato or lettuce); quite a bargain.

I’m liking those numbers. As mentioned, I decided to go with a water tonight too, and I’m glad I did. Need to stay hydrated in this nasty Florida summer weather. And since I didn’t run or exercise today (even though I said I would), I need to be ready for tomorrow as best I can. Going to “lean up” tomorrow with a 3-5 mile run, and boy do I need it. Need those endorphins released for increased productivity! Glad I had the grilled option tonight – it was perfectly timed.
Final Every Day Rating: 9 out of 10 – the Chargilled Sandwich was on point tonight, and the waffle fries were hot and tasty. Oh who am I kidding, this was a 10 out of 10, once again!
