Alas, all good things must come to an end, and it would appear I have sufficiently eaten all 19 meal options at Chick-fil-A, from a #1 Original Chick-fil-A Sandwich meal some 20+ days ago, to the #8 Multigrain Oatmeal and Fruit Cup meal.
Now I realize that there are more breakfast entrees and side items to try out, but it’s July people – plenty of time!
This morning I was up early to schedule some posts for A2S, and then had to take the Sonata to the shop as the AC started blowing that hot, humid summer Florida air instead of the cool, crisp air of manufacturer’s freon. I ran back from the shop after dropping the car off and stopped off at the community pool to get some laps in. I am quasi-committed to the Tarpon Springs Triathlon on September 7th, so seeing as how I haven’t stepped foot in the pool since last summer, I’m thinking it’s time?
All that to say, by the time I got back, I had missed the morning Chick-fil-A run and decided to wait for the afternoon – I had to go out to pick up our veggies from Carlita’s Bowl Veggie Co-op later on, so I thought I’d grab my Chick-fil-A then.
Things were going well until I started making my juice from last week’s co-op, a conglomerate of all things fruit, though with some carrots to keep the juicer moving. See the final product below:
So what happened you ask? Migraine. Haven’t had one all year. In fact, I had attributed my juicing to keeping the migraines at bay, but I haven’t been juicing except for once or twice a week since I got back from Africa. If you’ve ever had a migraine, you feel my pain. I knew it was coming on, because all of a sudden I was seeing two apples instead of one, two knives instead of one, and in case you’re wondering, I did cut myself (just a little baby cut though – but I’ll take your sympathy.)
Well, to make a long story even longer, I ended up popping some Excedrin and lying down, only to get up and scrounge around for this Cambria (sp??) sample Ms. Ellie had given me (thank you, Ellie!). As these migraines usually do, once the double vision goes away, the headache comes on strong, and it nestles itself almost exclusively behind my right eye. While the meds helped, the only thing that really helps is a dark room and the fetal position. It’s not even the pain so much as it is the nausea – wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, and that includes Packers fans.
Okay, maybe I wouldn’t mind if Aaron Rodgers gets one right before he has to play the Bears.
Fortunately it only lasted a few hours, but my afternoon was shot. (Thanks for picking up the slack, babe.)
Once I did start feeling less nauseated, I headed out to grab the perfect Chick-fil-A pick-me-up to offset the lowliness of migraine hell. My choice? The #8 Chargrilled Chicken Club Sandwich Meal.
Andrew was there to greet me with a smile and world-class service, and for that, I’m grateful.
Of course, it also felt good to get back on the server pic bandwagon, I’m not gonna lie.
The Chargrilled Club hit the spot, I must say, and I even saved some of the precious waffle fries for my sweet wife. She really is sweet. Today she was sterilizing and washing baby bottles when I got back from my Chick-fil-A/Veggie Co-op run, as she sets sail in less than two weeks for Ethiopia to be with our baby boy until he clears US Embassy and we can bring him home.
- What will life with an Ethiopian year old baby boy be like?
- How will I possibly make it without my wife here to baby me on days when I get migraines?
Ah, these are some of life’s greatest mysteries…
