I love the Saturday Chick-fil-A run because it gives me multiple options for blogging. It’s kind of like when we went rafting down the Nile while I was in Africa back in June – we could take the Mild or the Wild ride: your choice. (For the record, both rafts flipped and every team member was dumped in the Nile River for Moses-esque baptism. Don’t you want to Man Up with us next year?)
I chose to blog on Sunday and I’ll tell you why. Here’s what Saturday looked like:
6:00 a.m. – Woke up and got ungroggy, took the dogs out, fed them
6:30 a.m. – Biked 6.25 miles and “bricked” a 2 mile run afterwards
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Worked on Addicted to Saving
3:00 p.m. – Had to get supplies because of the below pic, and felt it was my best option to stop by and grab my Chick-fil-A while I was out, even though I just had a little tuna for lunch. I was going to to be busy the rest of the day:
Now mind you, there was nothing wrong with the first picture. It was a lovely purple, and would’ve made for an excellent nursery….for a girl. (For those of you who don’t know, we were adopting a local gal’s baby girl last summer, and a couple of weeks before she gave birth, she switched agencies and we could not bring her home. It was devastating at the time, and still hurts if we look back at it and think too much about it.)
I guess a new color signifies a new beginning, though I was definitely lobbying to keep it the same out of sheer laziness. Liza won that argument. So now it’s this boring tan type of color, but the good news is, it will go with the safari-animal theme that she wants, which is appropriate for a boy, I suppose. Will give a final product picture I’m sure.
Since I didn’t start painting until about 5:00 p.m., and because I did some other projects around the house as well, by the time I put the paint brush up, it was past 10:00 p.m. and the Every Day with Chick-fil-A blog post could wait. Speaking of waiting, where was my Chick-fil-A entree this whole time while I was painting? Patiently in the fridge:
The question is, did my meal keep for 7 hours in the fridge and what, you ask with on-the-edge-of-your-seat anticipation, did I get?
A salad. The Cobb Salad, to be precise, which was a slight variation from the three previous trips where I was loving on the Asian Salad. Here’s the thing – you can’t go wrong with either. The Cobb has got that tangy, savory flavor going on with the Avocado Lime dressing, roasted corn, and the red pepper crunchies to top it off, while the Asian is more, well, Asian. Honey Sesame Ginger dressing on top of those garlic and ginger wontons – it’s got that touch of sweetness to it that makes you want just one more bite, you know?
At any rate, the salad kept, though my chicken was obviously cold after being in the fridge for 7 hours. I typically like food that’s supposed to be hot to scald my mouth, but in this case, I have to admit, it was still pretty tasty. I got a great pic of my servers today, the once-reluctant Sarah on the left, and Paul, who is some type of manager at my local Trinity Chick-fil-A:
Seriously, isn’t this pic dynamite? Nicely done. Great smiles.
So Day 57 is in the books. I loved that my wife left a comment on Day 56 (she never leaves comments), saying, “I could really go for a Chick-fil-A salad right now.” Can you blame her? Can’t wait to get that girl home with the contraband she went to retrieve (who calls his kid ‘contraband?’). Remember, she’s got a VIP card too; we can eat Chick-fil-A til we have chickens growing out our ears when you get back love.
