So the above pic is really for my buddy Mitch. Mitch called me while I was on my late night Chick-fil-A run, and I was happy to make him jealous of the current mission I was on. See Mitch is from Springfield, MO, and I believe they only recently got a Chick-fil-A in town. He hasn’t had the luxury of a VIP card obviously, but his options just to have access to a little piece of chicken heaven on earth have been severely limited as well. And he would be willing to pay full price!
Today I guess he was in St. Charles, MO, for a class he was teaching, and really wanted Chick-fil-A on the way home. He also really wanted to get out of the greater St. Louis area 5 p.m. traffic, so he, with all self-control, avoided eating so he could get out of town and on I-44 south to Springfield as quickly as possible. Alas, by the time he cleared the major thoroughfares of St. Louis, the only Chick-fil-A he was having was vicariously through me, because there wasn’t a Chick-fil-A restaurant in sight. Haha. Don’t worry Mitch, it was my pleasure to let you live through me.
The end of the week is always mentally draining, but this week has to take the cake. I’m just ready to stop thinking. I need a good veg-out movie or some mind-numbing, mouth-drooling, blank-staring activity to lull me into a state of incredible non-productiveness. Unfortunately, I really don’t see that on the immediate horizon. Too many responsibilities, and too much work to do.
The good news is, the fourth major golf championship of the year is on this weekend, and I’m hopeful by Sunday I have the majority of my honey-do’s completed, and I can let the sweet, sultry serenades of the velvety voice of Jim Nance accomplish said mind-numbing degeneration. Until then, I must press on toward the prize…
Had a new server tonight at Chick-fil-A (don’t worry, I’m not philosophizing about the word “new” this evening…..she was new to me). Jessica was her name, and I’m happy to present to you her inaugural Every Day with Chick-fil-A picture and mention:
Sydney was on the intercom, and I did in fact go back to the Asian Salad again tonight. I do think there’s a subtle addiction forming, but I also just really like the salads in my current state. I’m eating late at night, and there’s nothing like the green leafy’s to make you feel a little lighter in your belly since you’re eating so close to bedtime.
I’m also really happy I’m starting this blog before 11:15 p.m. In fact, this blog is going to be in the books by 10:40.
I hope to share some new news tomorrow about our adoption as well. Some good stuff happening, but I feel deep pains of sympathy for my wife right now, who’s having a rough go at it. If you pray, pray for some God-given strength right now to be a new momma in a third-world country under less than ideal circumstances. That does, however make me think of a good way to end this blog:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me… – Philippians 4:13
Yup, that’s my prayer for you, Liza. Hang in there baby.
