I nearly forgot about Chick-fil-A today, as Labor Day always throws a wrench in the normal schedule. Good thing my mother-in-law reminded me when she was over, or I would’ve probably headed straight to Buffalo Wild Wings for our Fantasy Football Draft (my third one this year). It’s hard to blame me though, after all the food we had around 4:30 pm today:
And seeing as how I was about 10 pounds of brats, dogs, and burgers heavier than when I started the day, I opted for a Chick-fil-A dessert for the second trip in a row. (Yes, the below picture was intentionally shot to pay homage to the THE Ohio State University Buckeye football team in addition to my 6-pk of Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies):
A big thanks to Nathan and Jessica, my friendly Chick-fil-A servers today. These two have great smiles, don’t you think?
After picking up my 6-pk of cookies (final price was $6 and change on these), I headed over to BWW for the draft. And seeing as how I was trying to finagle my way into the Chick-fil-A Trinity staff draft, I know some of the guys will be interested in my team. For the record, we start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, and 1 K. (No flex, must start 3 WR). QB TD passes are only worth 5 points, INT’s are a -3 penalty, and it’s 1 point for every 30 yards passing (not 25 like most leagues). So as you can see, we’ve tried to limit the power of the QB through our scoring.
We have a 12 team league and I drew pick 12. I’ve been in this league since 2003, won it in 2008 and 2012, and have a history of being the #1 seed after the regular season and losing in the first round. Even though I do lose a lot in the first round, the #1 seed is usually getting paid, so I’ve won way more money than I’ve lost in this league. With that said, I’m a little nervous about this years’ draft. I got my WR’s like I typically try to do and I like them, but there was NADA, ZERO, ZILCHO, for RB’s when the picks came back to me in Round 3, so I’m super anxious over how that’s going to look. Yahoo Sports gave me a B for my draft, but I’m feeling more like a D-. Hopefully I can just make the playoffs……anything can happen then.
My team draft results from pick 12 in a 12 team league:
1. (12) Dez Bryant (Dal – WR)
2. (13) Brandon Marshall (Chi – WR)
3. (36) Eddie Lacy (GB – RB)
4. (37) Victor Cruz (NYG – WR)
5. (60) Ahmad Bradshaw (Ind – RB)
6. (61) Rob Gronkowski (NE – TE)
7. (84) Darren McFadden (Oak – RB)
8. (85) Russell Wilson (Sea – QB)
9. (108) Isaac Redman (Pit – RB)
10. (109) Tony Romo (Dal – QB)
11. (132) Mohamed Sanu (Cin – WR)
12. (133) Ryan Broyles (Det – WR)
13. (156) Zach Sudfeld (NE – TE)
14. (157) Indianapolis (Ind – DEF)
15. (180) Sebastian Janikowski (Oak – K)
Oh, I also am that guy who picks up a new defense each week based on the matchups, and Indianapolis plays the hapless Raiders at home. If Gronkowski comes back and plays true to form, I should make the playoffs. If he doesn’t…..good thing I have free Chick-fil-A because I’ll be a little lighter in the pocketbook.
